In Canopsis, periodic behaviors<\/strong>, or pbehaviors<\/strong>, define the phases during which “behavior changes” are required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development of Canopsis V4<\/a> was an opportunity to completely rethink this feature<\/strong>, emphasizing the solution’s customizability<\/strong> and reliability<\/strong>. The module’s redesign is part of a drive toimprove performance<\/strong> that began with the multi-instantiation (parallelization) of engines. Renamed Planning<\/strong>, it can now absorb much higher event traffic in record time<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Characteristics of periodic behaviors on Planning<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Periodic behaviors<\/strong> allow behaviors initially defined<\/strong> on the platform to be changed<\/strong> over a given period of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Service windows<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To begin with, creating service slots<\/strong> for all or some of the components of an IS enables you to prioritize certain components at specific times of the day<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This materialization of application criticality <\/strong>is therefore particularly useful for transcribing SLA terms and conditions<\/strong> in Canopsis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maintenance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to the Planning module, you can also schedule maintenance for an entity<\/strong>. Many interventions<\/strong> can trigger “false” alarms<\/strong>: switching off a machine, restarting a service…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More concretely, you choose<\/strong> whether or not to make them visible in the<\/strong> Alarm List and Service Weather<\/strong>, but whatever happens, they will only be activated if they persist post-maintenance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pause<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It is also possible to declare an application “paused<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This mode is particularly useful when responding to an alarm raised in an automated scenario<\/strong>. Without it, the scenario would continue to generate alerts while the problem is being resolved.

With Planning, the right alerts are presented to the right people at the right time!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customization<\/strong> has not been forgotten! It’s now possible to create your own pbehaviors types<\/strong>, especially for integrating exceptional dates into Canopsis<\/strong>.

Steering teams<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For pilots<\/strong>, the main advantage<\/strong> of the Planning module is that it saves time<\/strong>. They focus only on relevant alarms<\/strong>, limiting “false positives”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visibility<\/strong> is another advantage of this feature. Each alarm shows the current pbehaviors of the application generating it. Better still, teams have access to a complete history of all interventions<\/strong> that have taken place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Planning, alarms are represented as accurately as possible<\/strong>: they are only activated in case of legitimate problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Application managers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In addition to making pbehavior information available in the Alarm List<\/strong>, the feature also displays them on the Service Weather<\/strong>. Managers have a 360\u00b0 view of the state of the IS<\/strong> at a <\/strong>glance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Canopsis APIs <\/strong>also automate the process of creating maintenance slots<\/strong> in the event of a “change”. No more double entry!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
